This Cookie Policy explains what cookies (and similar technologies) are, how zamzom.com ("ZamZom", "we", "our") and our partners use them, and the choices you have. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Google Ads Disclaimer.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites ask your browser to store on your device. When you revisit the site, your browser sends the cookie back, letting the site "remember" things — like your preferences or, in the case of advertising cookies, which ads you've seen. Cookies can't run programs or give a website access to other files on your device. Similar technologies include local storage (which our games use to remember best scores — see section 6), pixels, and SDK identifiers.
2. Cookies We Set Ourselves: None for Tracking
Here's the simple version: ZamZom's own code sets zero tracking cookies. We don't use cookies to follow you around, build profiles, or remember who you are — there are no accounts on ZamZom, so there's nothing to remember you for. Any cookies you encounter on our Site come from the third-party services described below, which we need to keep the Site free (advertising) and to understand aggregate usage (analytics).
3. Types of Cookies Used on ZamZom
Cookies are commonly grouped as follows — here's how each group applies to us:
- Strictly necessary: required for basic site operation. We don't set any ourselves.
- Preferences/functionality: remember choices like language. We don't use these.
- Analytics/performance: help us count visits and see which games are popular, in aggregate. Set by Google Analytics.
- Advertising/targeting: used by Google AdSense to serve ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and (if you allow it) personalize ads to your interests.
4. Third-Party Cookies in Detail
| Cookie / Storage | Provider | Purpose | Typical Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| DoubleClick (IDE, DSID, etc.) | Google (AdSense) | Serve and measure ads; enable personalized advertising based on your visits across sites; frequency capping; fraud prevention. | Up to 13 months (varies) |
| _ga, _ga_<container-id> | Google (Analytics) | Distinguish aggregate visits and sessions for anonymous usage statistics. We disable advertising features in Analytics. | Up to 2 years |
| _gid | Google (Analytics) | Distinguish users for 24-hour aggregate counting. | 24 hours |
| _gat | Google (Analytics) | Throttle request rate. | 1 minute |
Exact cookie names and durations are controlled by Google and may change; see Google's cookie information for the latest details.
5. How Google Uses These Cookies
When you visit ZamZom, Google may use cookies to show you ads based on your prior visits to our Site and other websites, and to report ad performance to advertisers. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our Site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can learn exactly how Google uses data from partner sites at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
6. Local Storage (Not a Cookie, but Worth Knowing)
Our games save best scores using your browser's localStorage — a storage area on your own device, separate from cookies. It never leaves your device, contains no personal identifiers, and you can clear it anytime via your browser's "clear site data" option. If storage is blocked (e.g., private browsing), games still work; they just won't remember scores between visits.
7. Your Choices — Managing Cookies
You are in control. Here are your options:
- Google Ads Settings: turn off ad personalization at google.com/settings/ads — you'll still see ads, just not personalized ones.
- Industry opt-out: opt out of many third-party interest-based ads at once via aboutads.info/choices (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
- Analytics opt-out: install Google's opt-out browser add-on.
- Browser controls: every major browser lets you block, delete, or be notified about cookies:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Note: blocking all cookies won't break ZamZom's games, but embedded third-party features (like comments) may work less smoothly.
8. "Do Not Track" Signals
Some browsers send "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals. There is currently no industry standard for responding to them, so we don't alter our practices based on DNT — but the opt-out tools above give you stronger, more specific control than DNT does.
9. Cookies and Children
We do not knowingly allow cookies to collect personal information from children under 13 for our own purposes, and we configure Google's services with family-appropriate settings. Parents who prefer zero third-party cookies can use the browser controls or opt-outs above on their child's device — the games will still play normally.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy if our practices or service providers change. We'll revise the "Last updated" date and post material changes on the Site. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
